TWO YEAR CLASS
Our two year old program provides a safe, loving environment where a child can explore, create, interact, and investigate their surroundings. We are committed to helping children develop healthy peer relationships through free play and positive guidance. We encourage self-help, independence and participation in various activities.
The two year old class starts their day with a warm and friendly greeting from their teachers. The morning begins with a period of free play which includes a large selection of developmentally appropriate toys, puzzles, shape sorters, sensory table, science exportation table, art easels, and home center. After free play, the class will move outside to get some fresh air, sunshine and exercise on our two year old playground.
Teachers incorporate a thematic curriculum approach to learning during “Circle Time” through the use of songs, movement, finger-plays, learning units and stories that are related to our monthly themes. The children are exposed to the subjects of weather, days of the week, months of the year, number concepts and seasonal changes. The morning continues with a nutritious snack (crackers, yogurt, bagels...) served with fresh fruit or vegetables and a choice of milk or water. Snack is followed by a fun hands-on art activity. We end our day with an additional period of outdoor play, a twice weekly session of music (songs and movement) with a pianist and/or story time.
